GST RECEIVED FROM ZUBEEN GARG’S LAST FILM TRANSFERRED TO FOUNDATION | 3 January, 2025

The Assam government has transferred Rs. 2.90 crore, its total GST share earned from late iconic singer and music composer Zubeen Garg’s last film, Roi Roi Binale, to the Kalagaru Foundation established by the cultural icon of the state. Assam chief minister Himanta Sarma made the announcement about the decision to transfer while interacting with the media at a New Year programme. After that, the monies were transferred.

Zubeen’s film, which is still running in cinemas of Assam, has netted more than Rs. 32 crore from Assam alone, yielding around Rs. 2.90 crore as the state’s share of GST.

Zubeen Garg died while swimming in Singapore on 19th September, a day before he was to perform at the 4th North East India Festival at Suntec. Zubeen had gone to Singapore on 17th September.
