The jailed Dera Sacha Sauda chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is also an actor, writer, producer and director, withdrew his plea for parole in the wake of the public outcry over Haryana’s political leadership appearing to defend his right to appeal. Singh is serving sentences for rape and murder.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh had earlier too applied for parole (to attend the marriage of his foster daughter) and then withdrawn his plea.
