HC CLEARS RANVEER SINGH, GIVES HIM 4 WEEKS TO VISIT CHAVUNDI DEITY | 26 April, 2026

The Karnataka high court on April 26 quashed a case against actor Ranveer Singh after accepting his revised undertaking to visit the Chavundi deity as an act of atonement for his mimicry of the deity’s depiction in Kantara A Legend: Chapter 1. The HC added that a detailed order will follow, directing the actor to visit the deity within four weeks.

The case stems from a complaint over Ranveer’s mimicry of actor Rishab Shetty at IFFI Goa last year and him referring to Chavundi Daiva, a revered deity in coastal Karnataka, as a female ghost. Ranveer later apologised for his mimicry and for the reference.
