HC RELAXES RHEA’S BAIL CONDITIONS IN DRUGS CASE | 30 September, 2025

The Bombay high court has relaxed the bail conditions imposed on actress Rhea Chakraborty in the drugs case, and allowed her to travel abroad with prior intimation to the investigating officers. She had been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on September 8, 2020, along with her brother and others, on allegations of financing and procuring drugs for her boyfriend, late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. While granting bail, the trial court had imposed a condition that Rhea should not leave the country without prior permission from the special court judge.

In the high court, the actress’ lawyers contended that she was required to travel abroad for work and had to forgo assignments because of the delay in obtaining permission. They pointed out that the chargesheet had already been submitted and that similar relaxation was granted to eight co-accused in the case.

The court held that Rhea had cooperated in the trial till date and had not violated any bail conditions and had always returned from abroad whenever she had travelled with permission. Hence it granted her permission to travel abroad without taking prior permission from the judge.
