Television actor Karan Oberoi, who was accused of raping an astrologer-friend and extorting money from her, on 29th June filed a complaint against the investigating officer, inspector D.P. Sonawane, in the metropolitan magistrate court at Andheri East in Bombay. According to Oberoi, the police officer’s investigation was biased and defective. He added that although the police had seized his laptop and mobile phone, the police report said that they had not been seized. He also said, the police took more than a month to seize the lady’s phone.
Karan has accused the investigating officer of deliberately trying to frame him in an attempt to favour the woman.
The actor had been released on bail after a month of his arrest.
