Barely a couple of days after the Assam police’s Special Investigation Team filed a chargesheet in the Zubeen Garg death case, the Singapore Police Force iterated that it did not suspect foul play in the singer’s death. Singer and music composer Zubeen, who was a cultural icon of Assam, died while swimming in the sea off St. John’s Island on September 19.
A statement, issued from Singapore on December 18, said that the SPF’s continued probe into the circumstances of Zubeen’s death hadn’t thrown up anything suggestive of wrongdoing by anyone. The statement added, “The case is currently still being investigated by SPF in accordance with the Singapore Coroners Act, 2010.
The chargesheet in India has charged four of the seven accused and arrested in the case, with murder. One person was charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The balance two have been charged with criminal breach of trust and criminal conspiracy.
