Popular lyricist Nusrat Badr passed away in Bombay on 23rd January after a prolonged illness. He was the son of famous Urdu poet Bashir Badr.
Nusrat wrote over 800 songs in a total of 100-plus films and music albums. Among the films he wrote songs for were Deewaar, Saanwariya, Dewangee, Chanda Ki Doli and Tere Bin. The super-hit Dola re dola and Maar daala songs from Devdas were written by Badr.
Badr had been suffering from several ailments since some time and he had been hospitalised in November 2019 for acute pneumonia, diabetes and abnormal blood pressure.
