Actress and Trinamool Congress MP Nusrat Jahan specially arranged for a Hilsa fish to be sent to the Calcutta residence of Nobel laureate Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee on 22nd October after reading in the newspaper the previous day that Abhijit loved one of Bengal’s most favourite fish. The Basirhat MP swung into action on reading the newspaper report, contacted his mother in Calcutta and expressed her desire to gift a hilsa from her constituency to the family on 22nd.
The report had mentioned about Abhijit Banerjee’s wish to have the hilsa fish while at home in Calcutta, and how his mother feared that she would not find one in the city during this time of the year. The Nobel prize winner reached Calcutta on 22nd evening by which time the hilsa fish had been delivered to his home, thanks to the efforts of Nusrat Jahan.
