Rajinikanth is likely to launch his political party in August or September next year. The party, currently named Rajini Makkal Mandram, may have a new name. Its bye-laws and policies are currently being finalised.
Rajini is determined to propagate an effective but civil political discourse aimed at filling the void left by former DMK president M. Karunanidhi and AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa. The new party of the superstar will field candidates in the 2021 Assembly elections.
