A Railway Protection Force (RPF) jawan was arrested for allegedly molesting a Bengali film actress inside a local train compartment on the evening of 5th September. The actress was returning from the shooting of a short film.
While the prime accused was molesting the lady, his colleague who was with him, saw what was happening but did not stop him. The molestor, Samaresh Mondal, was arrested, but the other jawan fled the scene. Both were suspended.
The actress, who was travelling in a general compartment, telephoned her husband while she was in the train, after Mondal molested her and also offered her the cigarette he was smoking and blowing the smoke on her face. Mondal and his colleague had boarded the almost empty compartment after the actress was already in it. The husband reached the station where the actress was to alight. He had informed the GRPF before the train entered the platform. The GRPF constables arrested Mondal at the station.
