The District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission no. 2, Jaipur, on January 15 issued a bailable warrant of Rs. 10,000 against actor Salman Khan for allegedly continuing to endorse a pan masala product through misleading advertisements. The Commission directed Khan to appear before it in Jaipur on February 6.
The Commission president ordered the police commissioner to ensure execution of the warrant.
The order was passed while hearing a contempt petition filed by Yogendra Singh. According to the petition, Rajshree Pan Masala was promoted via ads which allegedly misled the public by claiming that the product was made using saffron. Singh argued, “Such claims create a false impression of safety and quality while the consumption of pan masala is widely known to be associated with serious health risks, including cancer.”
