SURVIVOR IN PAKISTANI PLANE CRASH RELATED TO KAMAL AMROHI | 25 May, 2020

One of the two survivors in the crash of a Pakistani aeroplane on 23rd May is related to late filmmaker Kamal Amrohi. Zafar Massod, one of the only two survivors in the plane crash in which 97 persons were killed and eight people on the ground were injured, has roots in Amroha in Uttar Pradesh and is related to Kamal Amrohi. A top executive with Bank of Punjab, Zafar injured his hip and collar bone but nevertheless had a miraculous escape.

Massod’s family had migrated to Pakistan in 1952. Massod’s maternal grandfather, Taqi Amrohi, was the cousin of Kamal Amrohi. Taqi Amrohi was a journalist in Pakistan.
