The Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) has passed a resolution that henceforth big-budget and medium-budget films will be produced based on star-producer revenue sharing model only. In other words, stars will have to come in as partners with producers of medium- and big-budget fares.
The Council has also resolved that the current 28 days (4 weeks) theatrical window before films are streamed on OTT platforms will continue as producers have opposed the Council’s move for an eight-week window. The theatre owners’ association had recently proposed a 56-day theatrical window for films before they were streamed on an OTT platform.
