TWITTER SUSPENDS ACCOUNT OF KANGANA’S SISTER | 17 April, 2020

The Twitter account of Rangoli Chandel, sister and manager of Kangana Ranaut, was suspended on 16th April for a controversial post about the recent attack on doctors and medical workers treating coronavirus patients. Rangoli’s tweets were mass-reported for abuse by well-known Twitterati including actress Kubra Sait and filmmaker Reema Kagti.

Rangoli posted tweets following an attack on healthcare workers after a member of a religious group died from the coronavirus infection in Uttar Pradesh. These tweets drew objections as they allegedly targeted a community. A spokesperson said, “At Twitter, no one is above our rules. The referenced account was permanently suspended for repeated violations of the ‘Twitter Rules’ including ‘Hateful Conduct Policy’. If we receive reports of potential rule violations, we will take action, as appropriate and pursuant with our enforcement approach.”
