UNCERTAINTY OVER NATIONAL FILM AWARDS JURY MEETINGS | 2 June, 2020

Uncertainty looms large over the National Film Awards this year. The Awards are usually announced in April and presented in May. But things have been delayed this year due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

The National Film Awards jury was scheduled to meet in February but the meeting was postponed to March-end. The lockdown happened before that and hence the jury meeting could not take place. Unfortunately, no arrangements have been made for the jury to watch the films. One doesn’t know when the Awards will be announced. A lot of films, especially the regional ones, wait for the National Awards to be announced so that they can get a decent release if they are among the winners.
