Thalapathy Vijay’s Tamil film, Jana Nayagan, has hit a major roadblock because it is still to get a certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification. The film is slated to be released on January 9, 2026.
The CBFC informed the Madras high court that the film will be reviewed again — this time by a newly appointed committee. The CBFC had on December 19 suggested a list of cuts and muted some dialogues.
The producers of the film had approached the high court after they failed to receive its censor certificate in spite of being submitted to the CBFC more than a month back. The matter, which was initially listed for hearing on January 6 (today), was postponed to January 7 (tomorrow).
During the hearing, the CBFC informed the court that the film would be reviewed once again by a newly-appointed committee. It is only after the original Tamil version is issued certificate that the dubbed versions in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada can be cleared.
