The Paud police in Pune are investigating a complaint against actor Vikram Gokhale and two others of cheating 14 investors of around Rs. 97 lakh in a plot scheme in Mulshi taluka, as part of the Girivan private hill station project. In an FIR lodged on 17th March, Kothrud resident Jayant Bahirat named Vikram Gokhale as chairman, and two others (related to a former MP) as directors of Sujata Farms Pvt. Ltd. which floated the project in 1989.
Bahirat alleged that the three misrepresented the scheme as government-approved to lure investors but the firm failed to get plots demarcated by state land measurement officials. Vikram Gokhale clarified that the complaint was baseless as the company had handed over 958 plots without trouble. People mentioned in the FIR, he added, had also got their plots but there were technical issues about measurement, which can be sorted out once the government-appointed team measures the land. Gokhale also explained that he was a director and face of the company but had tendered his resignation.
