WANTED ROBBER HELD FROM SALMAN KHAN’S BUNGALOW | 11 October, 2019

The Bombay crime branch on 9th October arrested a man wanted in an old robbery case, from Salman Khan’s bungalow at Gorai in Bombay. Shakti Rana, 62, had been working as a caretaker in the bungalow since 15 years. The robbery case was 29 years old.

Rana and his two aides had allegedly committed a theft at Worli in Bombay. He had been arrested and then released on bail. Ever since, he had been evading the authorities. A sessions court had issued several non-bailable warrants against him but the police could not trace him all these years.

Rana, who confessed to his crimes after being arrested on 9th October, has been booked under sections 452 (house trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) and 397 (robbery, or dacoity, with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt) of the Indian Penal Code.
