With just a month to wrap up the financial year, the results of Western Railways present a rosy picture, at least as far as its non-fare income is concerned. It has already earned around Rs. 1.72 crore from film, television,web series and advertisement shootings between April 1, 2025 and February 15, 2026. This is Western Railways’ highest ever, and almost 25% higher than the previous year.
The earlier best was recorded in 2022-23 when the zone earned approximately Rs. 1.64 crore. Western Railways is among the leading railway zones in the country in monetising filming activity.
According to Western Railways chief spokesperson Vineet Abhishek, “Permissions are granted for mail/express services as well as suburban local trains and other premises which provide filmmakers with authentic, high-energy backdrops.”
