Everest Entertainment and Swaroop Studios’ Choricha Mamla (Marathi; UA; meaning ‘Something that’s done surreptitiously’) is a comedy.
Nandan (Jitendra Joshi) is a thief who comes to steal things from Amarjeet Patil’s (Hemant Dhome) farm house. Before he can leave, he gets caught by the owner who is with girlfriend Shraddha (Amruta Khanvilkar). One thing leads to another till Amarjeet’s wife, Anjali (Kshitee Jog), lands at the farm house. To save his skin, Amarjeet begs of Nandan to pretend that Shraddha is his (Nandan’s) wife. Circumstances now lead to police officer Abhinandan (Aniket Vishwasrao) landing at the farm house. Nandan soon realises that Anjali is in a relationship with Abhinandan. More comedy ensues when Shraddha comes face-to-face with Abhinandan. Finally, Nandan’s wife, Asha (Kirti Mehendale) lands at the farm house.
Priyadarshan Jadhav’s story is comical and keeps the viewers entertained. The story, however, begins to stretch in the second half. The screenplay, written by Priyadarshan Jadhav and Harish Karpate, is good and engaging in portions. It gets repetitive at places. Dialogues by the duo are effective and evoke laughter.
Jitendra Joshi does an excellent job as Nandan. Amruta Khanvilkar is superb in the role of Shraddha. Aniket Vishwasrao acts ably as police inspector Abhinandan. Hemant Dhome is alright as Amarjeet Patil. Kirti Mehendale is quite good as Asha. Kshitee Jog does a fair job as Anjali Patil. Ramesh Wani lends average support as the police constable.
Priyadarshan Jadhav’s direction is nice. Chinar-Mahesh and Praful-Swapnil have scored fairly good music. Lyrics (Mangesh Kangane, Jitendra Joshi and Jay Atre) are alright. Sujit Kumar’s choreography is entertaining. Aditya Bedekar’s background music is impactful. Shabbir Naik’s camerawork is okay. Satish Chipkar’s art direction is alright. Nilesh Gawand’s editing is quite sharp.
On the whole, Choricha Mamla is a fair entertainer.
