Pioneer Films & Entertainment LLP’s Gun Pe Done (UA) is designed as a comedy-action drama.
Manik Singh (Sanjay Mishra) is a hooch mafia from Haryana, whose business is spread over Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, M.P. and U.P. He starts business in Maharashtra by taking the home minister (Anant Jog) into confidence. The home minister demands a New Year’s eve party with alcohol and girls. Manik Singh happily agrees to provide all that the home minister needs.
Manik Singh sends Kamachi (Vijay Raaz) to hire Bollywood item girl Raziya (Tara Alisha Berry) for the party in Bombay at Madh Island. Kamachi falls head over heels in love with Raziya who, incidentally, lives with boyfriend Pancham (Jimmy Shergill) in Bombay. Since Raziya and Pancham realise that it’s risky for her to dance in the party as the men are of questionable character, they quote an obscene price. But Kamachi agrees, and even pays them advance.
Sanjana (Bidita Bag) and Aditya (Vrajesh Hirjee) are two journalists in Delhi. They get wind of the New Year’s eve party and come to Bombay to meet Raziya. Keen on doing a sting operation, the two journalists hatch a plan with Raziya and Pancham. As per the plan, Sanjana would impersonate Raziya. Pancham and Raziya, meanwhile, sign for another show in Pune on New Year’s eve. On the appointed day, Manik Singh comes to Bombay from Haryana while Sanjana reaches Bombay from Delhi.
As luck would have it, Kamachi is sent to Pune on a quick job. On the way to Pune, he bumps into Raziya who pretends to be Gulbano. But the persistent Kamachi brings Gulbano to Bombay. Pancham follows them.
What happens at the New Year’s eve party in which Sanjana is already dancing as Raziya?
Abhik Bhanu’s story is silly while his screenplay is plain stupid. The drama stretches senselessly so that nothing really creates an impact. The comedy is so feeble that it hardly ever evokes laughter. Abhik Bhanu’s dialogues are okay.
Jimmy Shergill is average as Pancham. Tara Alisha Berry does a fair job as Raziya. Vijay Raaz performs well as Kamachi. Sanjay Mishra is so-so as Manik Singh. Bidita Bag has her moments in the role of Sanjana. Vrajesh Hirjee lends ordinary support as Aditya. Anant Jog makes his presence felt as the home minister. Deep Raj Rana (as Aslam) and Pankaj Jha (as Munna) lend good support. Atul Kapoor’s narration is okay.
Abhik Bhanu’s direction is weak. Rimi Dhar’s music and Saaveri Verma’s lyrics are nothing to shout about. Shrikant Ahire’s choreography is just about functional. Mazhar Kamran’s cinematography is nice. Jaggu Sathe’s action and stunt scenes are alright. Bhaktraaj Verma’s art direction is commonplace. Shekhar-Arun’s editing is not sharp.
On the whole, Gun Pe Done is a flop show.
