‘JASSI WEDS JASSI’ REVIEW | 7 November, 2025

Divinity Studios’ Jassi Weds Jassi (UA) is the story of five Jassis.

Jassi/Jaspreet (Harsh Vardhan Singh Deo) loves his college mate Jassi/Jasmeet (Rehmat Rattan). Jassi/Jasmeet’s brother is Jassi/Jaswinder (Sikandar Kher). Jassi/Jaswinder is due to get married to Jassi/Jasleen (Uditi Singh). But assuming that Jassi/Jaswinder is getting his sister, Jassi/Jasmeet, married off, Jassi/Jaspreet kidnaps the bride on the day of the wedding. There is another Jassi/Jasjyot (Kalyani Gangola) who is the daughter of Bhullar (Manoj Tandon). Actually, Bhullar is the landlord who has rented out his shop to Balbir (Amit Vikram Pandey). Jassi/Jaspreet and Balbir are close friends. A police officer, Kartar (Manu Rishi Chadha), secretly loves Jassi/Jasjyot. There is Sehgal (Ranvir Shorey) whose saree shop is opposite Balbir’s audio cassettes shop (owned by Bhullar). The story is about the confusion created because of the five Jassis whose lives intersect.

Paran Bawa’s story tries hard to make the audience laugh because it is designed as a comedy, but since the entire comedy rests on the name ‘Jassi’, it falls flat on its face. The audience wonder how five important characters can have their aliases as Jassi (although their names are Jaspreet, Jasmeet, Jaswinder, Jasleen and Jasjyot). It becomes clear to the viewers quite early on that the entire screenplay (by Akshara Sanwal and Paran Bawa) has been created on the basis of one name — Jassi. Since the screenplay rests on such a weak foundation, it is far from convincing and anything but comical. In fact, it would not be wrong to say that the screenplay is terribly weak. Akshara Sanwal and Paran Bawa’s dialogues are average.

Harsh Vardhan Singh Deo is ordinary as Jassi/Jaspreet. Rehmat Rattan is so-so as Jassi/Jasmeet. She looks pretty. Ranvir Shorey does an average job as Sehgal. Sikandar Kher is alright as Jassi/Jaswinder. Manu Rishi Chadha is passable as police officer Kartar. Grusha Kapoor doesn’t quite impress as Sehgal’s wife, Sweety. Kalyani Gangola is okay as Jassi/Jasjyot. Navneet Gairola does a routine job as Jassi/Jaspreet’s father, Sethi. Supriti Batra passes muster as Jassi/Jaspreet’s mother, Mrs. Sethi. Amit Vikram Pandey is fair as Balbir. Sudesh Lehri lends ordinary support as the maternal uncle of Jassi/Jasmeet and Jassi/Jaswinder. Uditi Singh performs ordinarily as Jassi/Jasleen. Manoj Tandon (as Bhullar), Pratima Bharti (as the maternal aunt of Jasmeet and Jaswinder), Junaid Ali (as Bittu) and Inderpreet Kaur (as Beeji of Jasmeet and Jaswinder) provide dull support.

Paran Bawa’s direction is as weak as his story. He is unable to create comedy through his narration. Music (Akshay & IP, Rev Shergill and Bhanu S. Tanwar) is okay. Lyrics (IP Singh, Rev Shergill, Shiv Kumar Batalvi, Prashant Beybaar and Harsh Vardhan Singh Deo) are ordinary. Arvind Thakur’s choreography is hardly worth mentioning. Dhruv Dhalla’s background music is weak. Kush Chhabria’s camerawork is passable. Production designing (by Mayur Tripathi and Shrishti Rungta) is alright. Abhijeet Deshpande’s editing leaves a lot to be desired.

On the whole, Jassi Weds Jassi is a flop show.
