Aryan Entertainment World’s Junction Varanasi (UA) is a film about two brothers.
Dr. Ramakant (Govind Namdev) stays in Varanasi with his wife, Mamta (Zarina Wahab), and two sons, Amar (Dev Sharma) and Prem (Dheeraj Pandit).
In their childhood, younger brother Prem had saved the life of Amar and while doing so, Prem had himself been seriously injured in a road accident. The accident had affected Prem’s brain, because of which his brain has remained under-developed. Prem’s crazy behaviour, since that accident, had caused the family a lot of embarrassment. Even after growing up, Prem is unable to behave normally.
Sadhu (Anupam Shyam Ojha) holds a grudge against Dr. Ramakant. He, therefore, keeps instigating Prem to do the wrong things. Meanwhile, Amar has found his lady love in Anjali (Anjali Oberoi).
Prem’s mother, Mamta, consults an astrologer to enquire about Prem’s future. Mamta and Amar are pained by the constant physical torture Prem has to undergo at the hands of his father who is frustrated by the embarrassment Prem puts the family through. The astrologer asks Mamta to get Prem married.
Amar forces Anjali to marry his brother because somewhere, Amar feels responsible for Prem’s mental condition. Sadhu asks Prem to send wife Anjali to him. Even as Sadhu is trying to rape Anjali, Amar and the police land there and save Anjali’s honour. Sadhu is killed by the police.
On his return home, an inebriated Prem is shot dead by his harrowed mother. She herself dies after shooting dead Prem. Anjali then lives happily ever after with Amar.
Dheeraj Pandit has written a terribly poor script. The story is kiddish while the screenplay is one of convenience. Consequently, the drama fails to engage the viewers. Except for a bit of comedy and some romance, the film has precious little to offer. Emotions are conspicuous by their absence. Dheeraj Pandit’s dialogues are quite nice.
Dheeraj Pandit does not look like a hero but he acts well as Prem. Dev Sharma also lacks the looks of a hero. His performance is okay. Anjali Oberoi is fair in the role of Anjali. Govind Namdev makes a mark as Dr. Ramakant. Zarina Wahab has her moments as Mamta. Anupam Shyam Ojha makes his presence felt in the role of Sadhu. Subrato Dutta is alright as Sadhu’s lieutenant. Anjan Srivastav and Shubhangi Latkar lend fair support as Anjali’s parents.
Dheeraj Pandit’s direction is dull. His narration is lacklustre and fails to keep the audience involved. Sushant Shankar’s music is ordinary. One song is okay while the others are dull. Lyrics (Nikhat Khan, Devendra Kafir and Dheeraj Pandit) are alright. Lollypop’s choreography is functional. Shubham’s background music hardly deserves separate mention. E. Saravanan’s camerawork is decent. Ravi Kumar’s action and stunt scenes are not thrilling. Amit Chakraborty’s editing is loose.
On the whole, Junction Varanasi is a flop show all the way.
