‘KAISI YE PAHELI’ REVIEW | 28 November, 2025

Take Pictures and 85 Crowdfunders’ Kaisi Ye Paheli (UA) is a whodunit.

Ishita’s (Goma Chettri) dead body is found in Shottipur village of Bengal. Police inspector Tamang (Chittaranjan Giri) and sub-inspector Uttam (Sukant Goel) are investigating the case. Uttam’s mother (Sadhna Singh) keeps helping Uttam in solving the case. She first tells him that Ishita had been murdered and it was not a case of suicide, as assumed by the police. Uttam’s senior, Tamang, seeks the help of Uttam’s mother in trying to solve the case. When the police can’t solve the case, detective Bondo (Rajit Kapur) is called in. What happens finally? Is it a case of suicide or muder? If it is a suicide, why did Ishita commit it?In case Ishita was murdered, who was the killer and what was his motive behind the murder?

Ananyabrata Chakravorty’s story is childish. The reason for the involvement of Uttam’s mother, which is revealed towards the end, seems weird and far-fetched. Detective Bondo’s address to the villagers in the end looks stupid. Ananyabrata Chakravorty has penned a screenplay which is so typical that there’s just no novelty or excitement of guessing the culprit. The drama, for a good part, unfolds without involving the viewers — something that is basic to a whodunit. Chakravorty’s dialogues are alright.

Sukant Goel is okay as Uttam. Sadhna Singh does a fair job as Uttam’s mother. Chittaranjan Giri is alright as police inspector Tamang. Rajit Kapur delivers an average performance as detective Bondo. Rahul Mukhia is ordinary as policeman Gogoi. Nishu Dikshit is routine in the role of Rasika. Rajendra Maskey is so-so as cottage owner Pradhan. Ujjaini Deb (as Ishita’s mother), Bindiya Dhamela (as Ishita’s roommate, Jhini), Rohit Karmakar (as Ishita’s ex-lover, Shamik), Den Shepra (as Ishita’s current lover, Moyur), Goma Chettri (as Ishita), Rinchen Shepra (as Limbu) and the other actors lend routine support.

Ananyabrata Chakravorty’s direction is okay but his childish script lets him down badly. Neelesh Mandalapu’s background music is ordinary. Leena Patoli’s camerawork is fair. Pankaj Soram’s art direction is okay. Prakhar Khare’s editing leaves a lot to be desired.

On the whole, Kaisi Ye Paheli is a flop show.
