Maharashtra Films’ Psycho Ranga (Marathi; UA) is a suspense drama about a silent and deadly protector. Ranga has wiped out criminals in the region. When journalist Aditi gets pulled into a dangerous city mystery, Ranga rises to save her. That’s when his hidden past, as a feared psychopath, begins to surface.
Devendra Chougule has written a story which doesn’t really hold the viewers’ interest for long. The screenplay, penned by Devendra Chougule, Manish Kulkarni, Uttam Chorade and Snehalraj, is interesting in parts only. The drama drops at several places because it is unable to hold the audience’s attention due to routine proceedings. Dialogues, written by the four writers, are alright.
Subodh Bhave does a fine job. Smita Gondkar is quite nice. Pushkar Jog is fair. Janhavi Killekar is so-so. Anand Kale lends average support. Prakash Dhotre makes a reasonably good impression. Milind Shinde, Amol Naik and Sanjay Mohite provide decent support. Others fit the bill.
Devendra Chougule’s direction is routine. Uttam Chorade’s music is quite nice. Lyrics (Uttam Chorade, Nitin Kulkarni and Jay Atre) are alright. Song picturisations (by Devendra Chougule and Sangram Bhalkar) are appealing. Uttam Chorade’s background music is of a fine standard. Camerawork (by Malhar Joshi and Saif Bargir) is alright. K. Satish Kumar’s action and stunt scenes are very exciting. Chandrashekhar Gurav’s editing ought to have been sharper.
On the whole, Psycho Ranga will find the going tough because it doesn’t offer novelty.
