REMEMBER AMNESIA (English) | 22 November, 2019

Godse-Thaker Productions’ Remember Amnesia (English) is the story of a US-based Indian physician.

Dr. Jay (Dileep Rao) is an Indian physician working in the USA. He comes to India on a break but he meets with an accident before he can reach home. In the accident, he loses his memory. Dr. Nina (Shruti Marathe), under whose care he is in the hospital, looks after him very well and she even falls in love with him.

Slowly but surely, Dr. Jay regains his lost memory but he can’t remember whether he had killed his wife.

Ravi Godse has written a fairly interesting story but it appears quite unbelievable. Better than his story is the screenplay which is also penned by him. The screenplay is fairly fast-paced and, therefore, keeps the interest alive. However, it must be added that the entire drama looks kiddish. Ravi Godse’s dialogues are witty and humorous.

Dileep Rao doesn’t look like a hero at all but his acting is natural. Shruti Marathe is suitably restrained as Dr. Nina. Tovah Feldshuh is excellent as Dr. Paula Smith. Curtiss Cook makes his presence amply felt in the role of Mr. Marks. Mahesh Manjrekar has his moments as Dr. Sharma. Vijay Patkar and Aanand Kale try to evoke laughter but meet with little success. Lisa Ann Walter (as the patient’s wife in the hospital), James Harrison Jr. (as the patient in the hospital), Rondell Sheridan (as the security guard at the hospital), Mohan Agashe (as the airport security officer) and the rest lend fair support.

Ravi Godse’s direction is okay but he has been unable to make a film which is both, entertaining and plausible. Sanjay Wandrekar’s music is so-so. Cinematography is alright. Paul Bucciarelli’s production designing, and Amar More’s art direction are okay. Sanjay Sankla’s editing is sharp.

On the whole, Remember Amnesia is a film with almost nil commercial prospects. Its lack of promotion is another minus point.

Released on 22-11-’19 at PVR Icon Lower Parel (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru PVR Vkaao. Publicity & opening: very poor. …….Also released all over.
