A special court at Rampur in Uttar Pradesh has acquitted actress and former MP Jaya Prada in a 2019 poll code violation case. The court passed the acquittal order due to lack evidence against the actress.
Jaya, who contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as a BJP candidate, was accused of inaugurating a road during the general elections while the model code of conduct was in force. The court of Shobit Bansal said that the evidence presented in the court was insufficient to prove the allegations made against Jaya Prada. The actress had lost the elections to Samajwadi Party’s Azam Khan.
