Actress Nora Fatehi must’ve realised the hard way that humour does not come as easily to her as, maybe, dance. For, an aviation company has dragged Nora to court for referring to its business jet as “a toy plane” and ‘Lego plane”.
She may have said it in jest, but the jet company didn’t find the comparison funny. Dunes Aviation has filed a suit in a Gandhinagar civil court, seeking Rs. 3 crore from her in damages. It claimed, her comments were “reckless” and “derogatory”.
Nora is said to have recorded videos deriding Dunes’ airplane, and posted them on her Instagram account after travelling in its Cessna Citation CJ2 from Bombay to Jaipur in December last year.
The suit alleged that Nora Fatehi, who has 46.6 million followers on Instagram, made utterly derogatory and reckless statements regarding the aviation safety of the chartered plane of the aviation company. In one of the videos, Nora says, “It’s a toy; this is what we get when you order an airplane from Amazon.”
According to Dunes Aviation, its bookings dropped by 15-20% within 45-50 days of Nora’s Instagram posts. There were major cancellations too, it claimed. According to the company, the indirect loss of reputation and goodwill is apart from the direct loss of business.
Nora should’ve known better than to ridicule an airplane in which she travelled safely. Before making such ridiculous videos about an aviation company, she should have put herself in the shoes (not dancing) of Dunes Aviation and imagined how she would feel if someone compared her dance to a snake slithering. Nora does not even hold an Indian passport and, therefore, should’ve shown more restraint in her public comments.
The sexy Nora may have upped the heartbeats of many of her fans when they see her dancing on screen. It would be interesting to see how the Gandhinagar court reacts when Miss Fatehi dances her way into it. And, if the court does order the danseuse to pay Dunes the damages… well, the aviation company would be dancing all the way to the bank!
