Veteran actress Rohini Hattangady will be honoured with the Vishnudas Bhave award for her outstanding contribution to Marathi theatre. Akhil Maharashtra Natya Vidya Mandir Samiti president Sharad Karale announced the actress’ name on 12th October. The award is conferred annually and is instituted in the memory of pioneer Marathi dramatist Vishnudas Bhave by the Sangli-based organisation. This is the 54th year of the award which includes a trophy, citation and Rs. 25,000 in cash.

Rohini Hattangady started her acting career when she was in school, and acquired fame after her role as Kasturba in Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi.
