Producer-director Mohanji Prasad breathed his last yesterday (17th November) in Surat due to old age. He had not been keeping good health since quite a long time. He was in his mid-eighties and had been staying with his daughter in Surat since a couple of years because of poor health.
Mohanji Prasad had produced a number of Hindi and Bhojpuri films, mostly family dramas. He later also turned director. He made the first Bhojpuri film ever. Among the Hindi films produced by him are Bade Ghar Ki Beti, Maa Beti and Ghar Dwaar. Deewana Hoon Pagal Nahi, Megha, Aurat Teri Yehi Kahani, Dosti Ki Saugandh, Phoolwati, Ghar Parivaar and Nache Nagin Gali Gali were also directed by Mohanji Prasad. He had also produced and directed many Bhojpuri films. His Bhojpuri Hamaar Bhauji was a roaring hit. Some other Bhojpuri films made by him are Ganga Jaisan Mai Hamaar, Pandit Ji Batai Na Biyah Kab Hoyi, Ram Balram, Saiyan Se Kar D Milanwa Hey Ram, Maai Baap, Rasik Balma and Hamaar Saiyan Hindustani. He had made two Bengali films viz. Vidhatar Khela and Madhuri.
