After Rajasthan, it is the turn of the Karnataka government to allow cinemas (single-screen and multiplexes) to function at 100% capacity. The rule will come into force from 1st October, according to the government of Karnataka’s order dated today (24th September).
Only cinemas in districts having COVID test positivity rate (TPR) of less than 1% will be permitted to function at full capacity, that too, if they strictly adhere to COVID-appropriate behaviour. In districts with TPR more than 1%, the existing arrangement of 50% seating capacity will continue. Cinemas in the state reopened in July this year after restrictions of the second lockdown, induced by the second wave of the Coronavirus, were eased.
As per the government order dated 24th September, the entry to such cinemas operating at cent per cent capacity will be restricted to the persons who have been vaccinated at least once.
Night curfews in the state will continue to be imposed but the timings have been revised with effect from 25th September. The new timings for the curfew are from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
