A fire broke out in Jaya cinema of Puducherry on 7th June. Nobody was injured. The cinema was screening Vikram (Tamil) when the cinema screen caught fire during the film’s climax. The audience was safely evacuated from the auditorium, and the fire department was informed. The entire screen was gutted in the blaze.
Fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames. It is suspected that the blaze was the outcome of a short circuit.
