‘ROSH’ REVIEW | 12 May, 2023

Mates Entertainment and Shivan Studio’s Rosh (UA) is the story of four friends who commit bank frauds to fund their lavish lifestyles.

Rajat (Mimoh Chakraborty), Ronika (Nikita Soni), Alina (Alina Rai) and Jignesh (Allu Ashish Soni) are friends who commit bank frauds to earn money. One day, the police arrive at Alina’s birthday party because drugs are freely being circulated. While Rajat, Ronika and Alina escape from there, Jignesh is whisked away by a man and so he, too, escapes from the police. The same man, who had whisked away Jignesh, then reaches Rajat’s house where the three have gone to cut the birthday cake. He goes there as Ganesh, the cake delivery man. Who is Ganesh? Why did he help Jignesh escape from the police? And what has he come to Rajat’s house for? What happens to the four friends?

Jayveer Panghaal has written a silly story and an equally silly screenplay. The drama moves so conveniently that the audience feels disconnected within minutes. Every twist and turn is so convenient that the viewers are convinced, anything can happen anytime, anywhere. In short, the drama appears ridiculous quite early on. Jayveer Panghaal’s dialogues are dull.

Mimoh Chakraborty is okay as Rajat. Nikita Soni does an ordinary job as Ronika. Alina Rai is average in the role of Alina. Allu Ashish Soni hardly passes muster in a brief role as Jignesh. Yash Raj does quite well as Ganesh. Vrajesh Hirjee (as security guard Champat), Govind Pandey (as the police inspector), Jill Killroy (as Mrs. Sachdeva) and Ruchi Tiwari (as Ganesh’s wife) lend routine support.

Jayveer Panghaal’s direction is as weak as his script. Monty Sharma’s music (only one song) is dull and so is his background score. Lyrics are weak. Dev Thape’s choreography is functional. Abhay Anand’s camerawork is just about passable. Aijaz Sheikh’s action and stunt scenes are ordinary. Rohit Madanwal’s art direction is okay. Alok Singh’s editing is loose.

On the whole, Rosh is a non-starter.
