The two releases of Diwali — THAMMA and EK DEEWANE KI DEEWANIYAT — reaped the benefit of the festive period by doing very well on the first day (Tuesday, October 21). Collections dropped on the balance days of Diwali but still, they were higher than what they’d have been had they not released in the Diwali week. THAMMA seems to have been liked by the audience so that it will easily cross the Rs. 150-crore mark in its lifetime. …Gujarati film CHANIYA TOLI swept the Gujarati box-office with outstanding collections in the first three days of the first weekend.
Thamma started with a net collection of Rs. 25.11 crore on Tuesday (October 21). The Diwali holiday aided the opening markedly, making this the biggest opening for an Ayushmann Khurrana starrer. Collections dropped on the second day (Wednesday) to Rs. 19.25 crore. The total on the third day (Thursday) was Rs. 14.45 crore as collections dipped further. But a three-day total of Rs. 58.81 crore was still an excellent one. Friday (4th day) closed at Rs. 12.66 crore. In this way, the total for the first 4 days of the first 6-day weekend was Rs. 71.47 crore. The first 6-day weekend is likely to close at Rs. 95-plus crore. The film will comfortably cross the Rs. 150-crore mark in its lifetime.

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat started with a net collection of Rs. 9.25 crore on Tuesday (October 21), thanks to its super-hit music, Diwali release and the new-found love for hero Harshvardhan Rane after the stupendous success of his Sanam Teri Kasam in its repeat-run earlier (in February) this year. Collections dropped to Rs. 8 crore on Wednesday, and further to Rs. 6.25 crore on Thursday. After a three-day total of Rs. 23.50 crore, the total for Friday was Rs. 5.75 crore. Therefore, the total for the first 4 days of the 6-day weekend was Rs. 29.25 crore. Even though the reports are not very encouraging, the super-hit songs have done the trick for the debut film of the producers. A first-time producer making profits in his maiden production venture is a rarity, but producers Anshul Garg, Dinesh Jain and Raghav Sharma will make money in their debut enterprise as producers. The good part is that the satellite and digital rights had not been pre-sold.

Kantara A Legend: Chapter 1 (dubbed) was quite good in 3rd week too. It reaped the benefit of the Diwali holidays in spite of the opposition of the two Diwali releases. The third weekend started with a take of Rs. 3.30 crore on Friday. COllections on Saturday went up to Rs. 4.20 crore. The collection of Rs. 5.45 crore on Sunday took the third weekend total to Rs. 12.95 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 3.20 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 4.10 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 4.70 crore, Thursday – Rs. 4 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was an impressive Rs. 16 crore. Hence the third week closed at Rs. 28.95 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 193.62 crore.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari was ordinary in the third week, the Diwali festival aiding its collections by at least 20%. It added Rs. 2 crore in the third weekend, and another Rs. 2.50 crore during the weekdays, taking its total for the third week to Rs. 4.50 crore. Therefore, the grand total for 3 weeks was Rs. 54.25 crore. If the block bookings of the first week are taken into account, the grand total for 3 weeks would be Rs. 60 crore.

Jolly LL.B 3 dropped a lot in the fifth week in spite of Diwali. It added Rs. 2 crore to its kitty in 5th week, taking its grand total for 5 weeks to Rs. 114.25 crore.

Premachi Goshta 2 (Marathi) did ordinary in the first weekend. The Diwali festival helped it get a decent initial on Tuesday (October 21) but the public reports were not impressive.
Dashavatar (Marathi) managed ordinary shares in 6th week too in Maharashtra.
Chaniya Toli (Gujarati) has done extraordinary in the first weekend (still going on). It netted Rs. 1.12 crore on Tuesday (Diwali). Collections increased by 10% (to Rs. 1.24 crore) on the second day (Wednesday) and by another 10% (to Rs. 1.36 crore) on the third day (Thursday). The 3-day total was a fantastic Rs. 3.72 crore. The total for Friday was Rs. 1.52 crore. Hence the total for the first 4 days of the first 6-day weekend was a whopping Rs. 5.24 crore. Blockbuster!
