Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya did such ordinary business in the first weekend that the producers resorted to propping up the collections by offering a free ticket for every ticket purchased — from the fourth day itself. That scheme helped to create a perception of a successful film but the trade was livid as it would be setting a bad precedent. The Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon starrer netted only Rs. 6.35 crore on the first day. Collections increased to Rs. 9.25 crore on Saturday. The increase on Sunday was minuscule, and so, it was amply clear that the film had not found universal acceptance. With Sunday’s total being Rs. 10 crore, the first weekend closed at Rs. 25.60 crore. Collections for the weekdays (with the free-ticket scheme) were: Monday – Rs. 3.35 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 3.25 crore, Wednesday (Valentine’s Day) – Rs. 6.25 crore, Thursday – Rs. 2.75 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 15.60 crore. Therefore, the first week’s total was Rs. 41.20 crore. Of course, since a lot of tickets were paid for by the producers during the weekdays, the actual total for the first week was much lower.

Mirg fared poorly in the first week all over.

Sahadev (dubbed) failed to garner public patronage in the first week all over.

Fighter fell even more in the third week. The third weekend started on a poor note with a net collection of Rs. 1.65 crore on Friday. Collections for Saturday and Sunday were Rs. 3.75 crore and Rs. 4 crore respectively. Therefore, the total for the third weekend was Rs. 9.40 crore only. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 1 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.95 crore, Wednesday (Valentine’s Day) – Rs. 1.70 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.95 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was a dull Rs. 4.60 crore. In this way, the third week closed at Rs. 14 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 181.50 crore.

HanuMan (dubbed) started its fifth weekend with a net collection of Rs. 15 lakh on Friday. Collections on Saturday and Sunday were Rs. 38 lakh and Rs. 50 lakh respectively. After a fifth weekend total of Rs. 1.03 crore, collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 11 lakh, Tuesday – Rs. 12 lakh, Wednesday – Rs. 17 lakh, Thursday – Rs. 11 lakh. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 51 lakh. So the total for 5th week was Rs. 1.54 crore. Grand total for 5 weeks: Rs. 51.40 crore.

Lokshahi (Marathi) bombed in the first week in Maharashtra.

Delivery Boy (Marathi) fared poorly in 1st week all over Maharashtra.

The initial of this week’s TERI BAATON MEIN AISA ULJHA JIYA yesterday (9th February) was disappointing. Although collections picked up as the day progressed, because of the decent star cast and its very popular music, the day did not end at a figure befitting the cast and the banner. After all, an all-India total net collection figure of Rs. 6.50 crore is not impressive for a film starring a hero who charges Rs. 25-plus crore! The first weekend (9th to 11th) and the Valentine’s Day (on 14th) will see decent collections but what remains to be seen is the drop on the rest of the days. 

Argylle (dubbed and the original English versions) performed poorly in the first week all over.

Fighter dropped very badly — more than 70% — in its second week. Considering that collections in the first week itself were not up to the mark, the 70% drop was nothing short of dismal. Collections during the second weekend were at least fair but thereafter (i.e. during the weekdays), they were rather bad. The second weekend started with a take of Rs. 5.50 crore on Friday. Collections on Saturday and Sunday were Rs. 10 crore and Rs. 11.75 crore respectively so that the second weekend closed at Rs. 27.25 crore. The drop from Monday onwards was alarming as evidenced by the collections for the weekdays: Monday – Rs. 3 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 2.70 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 2.60 crore, Thursday – Rs. 2.30 crore. With the total for the weekdays being only Rs. 10.60 crore, the second week closed at Rs. 37.85 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 167.50 crore.

HanuMan (dubbed) managed fairly good collections in the fourth week too. The film netted Rs. 38 lakh on the first day of the fourth weekend. Collections increased two-and-a-half times on Saturday which, therefore, closed at Rs. 95 lakh. The total for Sunday was an impressive Rs. 1.25 crore. Hence the fourth weekend closed at Rs. 2.58 crore. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 30 lakh, Tuesday – Rs. 28 lakh, Wednesday – Rs. 27 lakh, Thursday – Rs. 25 lakh. In this way, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 1.10 crore. Therefore, the total for 4th week was Rs. 3.68 crore. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 49.86 crore.

Sridevi Prasanna (Marathi) did not perform well in the first week all over Maharashtra.

Musafira (Marathi) fared poorly in 1st week in Maharashtra.

Chhatrapati Sambhaji (Marathi) failed to attract the public to the cinemas in 1st week in Bombay and the other centres of Maharashtra.

Sur Lagu De (Marathi) bombed miserably in the first week all over Maharashtra.

Gaafil (Marathi) performed terribly in first week in the whole of Maharashtra.

As predicted by us and in spite of many glowing reviews, Fighter has flopped. The Rs. 325-crore film showed its true colours in the first week itself. Again, as predicted, collections crashed after the four-day Republic Day weekend. It will entail losses to the producers. The film netted Rs. 19.50 crore on Thursday (January 25). Collections jumped on Friday but the increase was not as great as it ought to have been after the slow start, considering that it was the Republic Day national holiday. The holiday closed at Rs. 36 crore as against the trade expectations (before the film hit the screens) of Rs. 50 crore. It was, therefore, clear by the end of the Republic Day that the film was not being liked universally. Collections on Saturday fell down again so that the day closed at Rs. 24.50 crore. The total for Sunday — Rs. 25 crore — was yet another indication that the film would shock the trade the following day and that Fighter was fighting a losing battle. After a 4-day weekend total of Rs. 105 crore, collections crashed on Monday. The collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 7 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 6.35 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 5.85 crore, Thursday – Rs. 5.45 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was a pathetic Rs. 24.65 crore. In this way, the first week closed at Rs. 129.65 crore. At the rate at which the film is going, it is unlikely that it would be able to join the Rs. 200-crore club.

Main Atal Hoon fared badly in its 2nd week too. It netted only Rs. 1.40 crore in the second week. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 8.40 crore.

HanuMan (dubbed) did fairly well in the third week too. It started the third weekend with a take of Rs. 1.85 crore on Friday (Republic Day). Collections on Saturday and Sunday were Rs. 1.40 crore and Rs. 1.60 crore respectively. After a third weekend total of Rs. 4.85 crore, collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 0.35 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.38 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.40 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.43 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 1.56 crore. In this way, the third week closed at Rs. 6.41 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 46.18 crore.

Sapala (Marathi) fared miserably in the first week all over Maharashtra.

Navardev B.Sc. Agri (Marathi) failed to score in the first week in Maharashtra.

The opening of FIGHTER on Thursday (January 25) dampened the spirits of the trade. Collections in the first few shows at many places were shockingly poor. They improved as the day progressed but continued to be alarmingly low in a couple of circuits like C.I. and Bihar. The day closed at Rs. 19.50 crore. Besides the odd-day and non-holiday release, its lacklustre trailer and lack of hit music are said to have resulted in the slow initial. As was expected, collections showed a huge jump on Friday because of the Republic Day holiday so that the second day closed at Rs. 36 crore.

Main Atal Hoon fared poorly in 1st week. It netted Rs. 5.25 crore in the first weekend and another Rs. 1.75 crore during the weekdays. In this way, the first week closed at Rs. 7 crore.

6 9 5 bombed miserably in 1st week all over.

Haiwan failed to make any mark in 1st week in Bombay circuit.

Merry Christmas dropped around 73% in 2nd week. It netted Rs. 2.75 crore in the second weekend and another Rs. 1 crore during the weekdays. Hence the total for the second week was only Rs. 3.75 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 17.55 crore.

HanuMan (dubbed) did very well in 2nd week, dropping a little less than 30%. At places, it held on pretty well in the second week. The second weekend started with a take of Rs. 2.05 crore on Friday. Collections almost doubled to Rs. 4.02 crore on Saturday. They further shot up on Sunday which, therefore, closed at Rs. 5.31 crore. Therefore, the total for the second weekend was Rs. 11.38 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 2.30 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.25 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.05 crore, Thursday (opposition of new release, Fighter) – Rs. 0.75 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 5.35 crore. In this way, the total for 2nd week was Rs. 16.73 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 39.77 crore.

Dunki netted Rs. 1.10 crore in the fifth week. Grand total for 5 weeks: Rs. 217.06 crore.

Aichya Gavat Marathit Bol (Marathi) performed weakly in the week all over Maharashtra.

Merry Christmas fared quite poorly in 1st week. Collections for the Tamil version were even worse. The Hindi version netted Rs. 2.30 crore on the first day. Collections increased to Rs. 3.40 crore on Saturday, and to Rs. 3.75 crore on Sunday. Therefore, the total for the first weekend was Rs. 9.45 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 1.50 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.05 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.95 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.85 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 4.35 crore. In this way, the total for the first week was Rs. 13.80 crore.

HanuMan (dubbed) started slow but picked up markedly on Saturday and even more on Sunday, after which it remained steady at fair collections during the weekdays. The original Telugu version also did quite well. The Hindi dubbed version started with a take of Rs. 2.15 crore on Friday. Collections jumped to Rs. 4.05 crore on Saturday, and further to Rs. 6.29 crore on Sunday. In this way, the total for the first weekend was Rs. 12.49 crore. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 3.80 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 2.60 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 2.25 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.90 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 10.55 crore, the first week closed at Rs. 23.04 crore.

Captain Miller (dubbed) fared poorly in 1st week all over.

Dunki netted Rs. 2.50 crore in the fourth weekend, and another Rs. 1.20 crore during the weekdays, taking the total for 4th week to Rs. 3.70 crore. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 215.96 crore.

Salaar (dubbed) collected Rs. 2.10 crore in the fourth week, taking its 4-week total to Rs. 163.60 crore.

Animal netted Rs. 1.50 crore in its seventh week (Hindi version Rs. 1.40 crore, dubbed versions Rs. 0.10 crore). Grand total for 7 weeks: Rs. 555.91 crore (Hindi version Rs. 494.87 crore, dubbed versions Rs. 61.04 crore).

Khurchi (Marathi) bombed miserably in 1st week all over Maharashtra.

Tauba Tera Jalwa performed miserably in 1st week all over.

Fire Of Love – Red proved to be a debacle in the first week.

Dunki is on its way out. Its performance in 3rd week was not up to the mark. It collected Rs. 7.50 crore in the third weekend, and another Rs. 4.25 crore during the weekdays. Therefore, the total for 3rd week was Rs. 11.75 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 212.26 crore.

Salaar (dubbed) could not score much in 3rd week. It netted Rs. 8.50 crore in the third weekend, and a further Rs. 5.50 crore during the weekdays. Hence the total for the third week was Rs. 14 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 161.50 crore.

Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom (dubbed and the original English versions) did average in 3rd week. The film netted Rs. 1.76 crore in the third weekend, and another Rs. 0.79 crore during the weekdays. In this way, its total for the third week was Rs. 2.55 core. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 22.23 crore.

Animal managed shares in 6th week too. It netted Rs. 4 crore in the sixth week (Hindi version Rs. 3.75 crore, dubbed versions Rs. 0.25 crore), taking its grand total for 6 weeks to Rs. 554.41 crore (Hindi version Rs. 493.47 crore, dubbed versions Rs. 60.94 crore).

Sam Bahadur managed to stay afloat in 6th week also. It added Rs. 2.10 crore to its kitty in 6th week, taking its grand total for 6 weeks to Rs. 91.80 crore.

Ole Aale (Marathi) did fair in 1st week in Maharashtra. It was nowhere close to the business of Chal Jeevi Laiye!, the biggest blockbuster of Gujarati cinema, of which it is a remake.

Panchak (Marathi) did average business in 1st week in Maharashtra.

Satyashodhak (Marathi) fared very ordinarily in Maharashtra in the first week.

Dunki faced a steep fall (almost 80%) in 2nd week but still managed to touch the Rs. 200-crore mark. The second weekend started with a take of Rs. 6 crore on Friday. Collections increased to Rs. 7.50 crore on Saturday, and to Rs. 10 crore on Sunday. The second weekend, therefore, closed at only Rs. 23.50 crore. In spite of the New Year holiday on Monday, the film collected just Rs. 7.50 crore that day. Collections for the balance days were quite dismal: Tuesday – Rs. 3 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 2.50 crore, Thursday – Rs. 2 crore. With a total of Rs. 15 crore for the 4 weekdays, the second week’s total was an unimpressive Rs. 38.50 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 200.51 crore.

Salaar (dubbed) dropped around 58% in 2nd week. The second weekend commenced with a take of Rs. 7 crore on Friday. Collections increased to Rs. 8.25 crore on Saturday. The total for Sunday was Rs. 10.25 crore. After a weekend total of Rs. 25.50 crore, collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday (New Year holiday) – Rs. 9.25 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 4.75 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 4.50 crore, Thursday – Rs. 4 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 22.50 crore. In this way, the second week closed at Rs. 48 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 147.50 crore.

Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom (dubbed and the original English versions) did fairly well in 2nd week. It netted Rs. 0.74 crore on the first day of the second weekend. Collections jumped to Rs. 1.10 crore on Saturday, and further to Rs. 1.23 crore on Sunday. After a 2nd weekend total of Rs. 3.07 crore, collections for the weekdays were: Monday (New Year holiday) – Rs. 1.17 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.40 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.34 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.29 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 2.20 crore. Total for 2nd week: Rs. 5.27 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 19.68 crore.

Animal collected Rs. 4.25 crore in the fifth weekend, and another Rs. 3.25 crore during the weekdays (including the New Year holiday). Of this, the Hindi version collected Rs. 4 crore during the weekend, and Rs. 3 crore during the weekdays. Hence the total of the Hindi version for 5th week was Rs. 7 crore while the total of the dubbed versions for 5th week was Rs. 0.50 crore. Grand total for 5 weeks: Rs. 550.41 crore (Hindi Rs. 489.72 crore, dubbed Rs. 60.69 crore).

Sam Bahadur added Rs. 4.75 crore to its kitty in 5th week. Grand total for 5 weeks: Rs. 89.70 crore.

Dunki met with a mixed response. Youngsters generally gave it the thumbs down while people in the over-40 age group are finding it fairly good. But the Rajkumar Hirani film still managed decent collections in the first 8-day week. The Shah Rukh Khan starrer netted Rs. 29.20 crore on the first day (Thursday, December 21). Collections decreased to Rs. 20.12 crore on Friday but picked up again on Saturday (Rs. 25.61 crore) and even more on Sunday (Rs. 30.70 crore). Therefore, the 4-day weekend closed at Rs. 105.63 crore. Collections on Monday (Christmas) totalled Rs. 24.32 crore so that the 5-day weekend closed at Rs. 129.95 crore. Collections dropped dramatically during the balance three days: Tuesday – Rs. 11.56 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 10.50 crore, Thursday – Rs. 10 crore. Hence the total for the last 3 days was Rs. 32.06 crore. In this way, the first 8-day week closed at Rs. 162.01 crore.

Salaar (dubbed) did very well in centres where action films rule but average at other places in the first week. The film netted Rs. 18 crore on the first day. Collections on Saturday were also Rs. 18 crore while on Sunday, they increased to Rs. 21 crore. The total for Monday (Christmas) was Rs. 15.50 crore. Hence the three-day weekend closed at Rs. 57 crore while the total for the 4-day weekend was Rs. 72.50 crore. The collections for the balance three days were: Tuesday – Rs. 10 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 9.25 crore, Thursday – Rs. 7.75 crore. Therefore, the total for the 3 days was Rs. 27 crore, and for the first week was Rs. 99.50 crore.

Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom (dubbed and the original English versions) did fairly well in its first 8-day week. (Only the original English version was released on Thursday; the dubbed versions opened on Friday.) The film netted Rs. 1.89 crore on the first day (Thursday). In spite of the dubbed versions opening on Friday, the total for the film was Rs. 1.35 crore. Collections on Saturday jumped to Rs. 2.42 crore and further on Sunday to Rs. 2.92 crore. The total for Monday (Christmas) was Rs. 2.49 crore so that the 5-day weekend total was Rs. 11.07 crore. Collections on the balance three days of the week were: Tuesday – Rs. 1.24 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.10 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1 crore. In this way, the total for the first 8-day week was Rs. 14.41 crore.

Animal collections dropped dramatically in 4th week because of the opposition of the two new releases — Dunki and Salaar (dubbed). The original Hindi version netted Rs. 6 crore in the fourth 4-day weekend and another Rs. 3.26 crore during the balance three days. In this way, the Hindi version collected Rs. 9.26 crore in 4th week. The dubbed versions collected Rs. 0.88 crore in the fourth week. Grand total for 4 weeks (Hindi version only): Rs. 482.72 crore. Grand total for the dubbed versions for 4 weeks: Rs. 60.19 crore. Hence the grand total for 4 weeks for all the versions was Rs. 542.91 crore.

Sam Bahadur faced a remarkable drop in 4th week owing to the release of two new films. It netted Rs. 5 crore in the fourth week, taking the grand total for 4 weeks to Rs. 84.95 crore.

DUNKI and SALAAR (dubbed) opened on Thursday (December 21) and Friday (December 22) respectively to good houses. None of the two new releases took bumper initials. The trade had expected DUNKI to net more than Rs. 30 crore on the first day but the day closed at Rs. 29.20 crore. Of course, DUNKI could never have repeated the initials of the last two films of Shah Rukh Khan because while both those films (PATHAAN and JAWAN) were high-octane action films, DUNKI was a social film. Collections of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer on Friday totalled Rs. 20 crore (approximately), taking the 2-day total to more than Rs. 49 crore. SALAAR (dubbed) netted Rs. 18 crore on the first day. The figure of 18 includes the collections of the Hindi dubbed version in South circuits.

Kaisi Ye Dor bombed miserably in 1st week all over.

Mangalvaar (dubbed) failed to generate public interest in 1st week all over.

Animal continued its victory march in 3rd week also, emerging as the second-biggest blockbuster ever, next only to Jawan (Rs. 629.56 crore). The third weekend of the Hindi version started with a take of Rs. 7.75 crore on Friday. Collections jumped to Rs. 11.50 crore on Saturday, and further to Rs. 12.75 crore on Sunday. In this way, the third weekend of the Hindi version closed at Rs. 32 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 5 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 4.50 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 4.25 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.65 crore. Collections dropped dramatically on Thursday because of the release of Dunki. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 15.40 crore. In this way, the total for the third week was Rs. 47.40 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks for the Hindi version: Rs. 473.46 crore. The dubbed versions netted Rs. 4.71 crore in 3rd week, taking the 3-week total to Rs. 59.31 crore. Hence, the grand total of 3 weeks for all the versions put together was an astounding Rs. 532.77 crore!

Sam Bahadur started its third weekend with a net collection of Rs. 2.50 crore on Friday. Collections for Saturday doubled to Rs. 5 crore, and the total on Sunday was Rs. 5.50 crore. So the third weekend closed at Rs. 13 crore. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 1.60 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.50 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.40 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.60 crore (dropped a lot on Thursday due to the release of Dunki). With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 5.10 crore, the third week closed at Rs. 18.10 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 79.95 crore.

12th Fail was steady in 8th week at low collections. It added Rs. 1.35 crore to its kitty in the eighth week, taking the grand total for 8 weeks to Rs. 52.58 crore.

Chhapa Kaata (Marathi) performed poorly in 1st week all over Maharashtra.

Pillu Bachelor (Marathi) fared badly in the first week in the whole of Maharashtra.

Lai Jhakaas (Marathi) could not do anything worthwhile anywhere in Maharashtra in 1st week.

Club 52 (Marathi) met with a disastrous fate in the first week in entire Maharashtra.

Songya (Marathi) failed terribly in 1st week all over Maharashtra.

Jhimma (Marathi) performed well in the fourth week too, in Maharashtra.

Joram proved to be a debacle in 1st week all over.

Kastoori met with a disastrous fate in the first week all over.

Hi Papa (dubbed) faced rejection all over in the first week.

Animal continued to rule the box-office in 2nd week too. The Hindi version alone netted Rs. 87.56 crore in the second weekend, making it one of the highest second weekends for any film. (Jawan (Hindi version only) had netted Rs. 82.46 crore, Bahubali 2: The Conclusion (dubbed), Rs. 80.75 crore, and Gadar 2, Rs. 90.47 crore in the second weekend). The second weekend started with a take of Rs. 22.56 crore (highest ever for a Hindi film). Collections jumped to Rs. 31.50 crore on Saturday, which was also a record in itself (Hindi Jawan had netted Rs. 30.10 crore, Gadar 2, Rs. 31.07 crore, Bahubali 2: The Conclusion (dubbed), Rs. 26.75 crore). The total for Sunday was Rs. 33.50 crore, less than Jawan (Rs. 34.26 crore), Gadar 2 (Rs. 38.90 crore) and Bahubali 2: The Conclusion (dubbed) (Rs. 34.50 crore). Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 13 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 11 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 9.75 crore, Thursday – Rs. 8.25 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 42 crore. In this way, the total for the Hindi version in 2nd week was Rs. 129.56 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 426.06 crore. The Telugu dubbed and Tamil dubbed versions added Rs. 12.50 crore in 2nd week, taking the grand total for the dubbed versions for 2 weeks to Rs. 54.60 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks for all versions: Rs. 480.66 crore.

Sam Bahadur maintained extremely well in 2nd week. The second weekend started with a take of Rs. 3.50 crore on Friday. Collections increased to Rs. 6.25 crore on Saturday, and further to Rs. 7 crore on Sunday, taking the second weekend’s total to Rs. 16.75 crore. Collections during the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 2.25 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 2.15 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 2.05 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.90 crore.
