Early estimates (at the time of going to press) of the first day of SAAHO suggest that it netted a whopping Rs. 24-25 crore!

The Angry Birds Movie 2 (dubbed) and the English original of the same name did average in the first week. It started off the weekend with a net collection of Rs. 0.90 crore on Friday. Collections increased to Rs. 1.90 crore on Saturday, and further to Rs. 2.20 crore, taking the first weekend’s total to Rs. 5 crore. Collections during the weekdays were dull: Monday – Rs. 0.40 crore, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – Rs. 0.35 crore each. In this way, it collected Rs. 1.45 crore in the weekdays, taking its total for 1st week to Rs. 6.45 crore.

Mission Mangal added almost Rs. 50 crore to its kitty in the second week. It started off the second weekend on a superb note by netting Rs. 7.83 crore on Friday. Collections jumped to Rs. 13.32 crore on Saturday, and to Rs. 15.30 crore on Sunday, taking the second weekend’s total to Rs. 36.45 crore. Collections during the weekdays were also very good: Monday – Rs. 3.87 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 3.43 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 3.15 crore, Thursday – Rs. 3.05 crore. By adding Rs. 13.50 crore to its kitty in the weekdays, it collected a total of Rs. 49.95 crore in the second week. Hence its 2-week total went up to Rs. 177.95 crore!

Batla House maintained decently and collected Rs. 22.35 crore in 2nd week. It started its second weekend with a collection of Rs. 3.50 crore on Friday. The jump in collections on Saturday (Rs. 5.75 crore) and further on Sunday (Rs. 6.25 crore) was rather big. After netting Rs. 15.50 crore in the second weekend, the film collected as follows in the weekdays: Monday – Rs. 1.90 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.80 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.65 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.50 crore. Therefore, it added Rs. 6.85 crore to its kitty in the weekdays. In this way, its total for the second week was Rs. 22.35 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 80.35 crore.

Laal Batti (Marathi) could not do well in 1st week in Bombay, Thane district and the other centres of Maharashtra.

Palshichi PT (Marathi) fared miserably in the first week in Bombay, Thane district and the rest of Maharashtra.

With no new Hindi film this week, the major beneficiary will be MISSION MANGAL, followed by BATLA HOUSE.

Mission Mangal was off to a flying start on Thursday (15th August) with a net total collection of Rs. 29 crore. Collections fell to Rs. 17.28 crore on Friday, as expected, because it was a working day after the national and festive holiday on Thursday owing to Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan. Once again, collections jumped on Saturday (Rs. 23.58 crore), and even more on Sunday so that the day ended at a phenomenal Rs. 27.54 crore. In this way, the film’s first 4-day weekend closed at Rs. 97.40 crore. Collections were excellent during the weekdays too: Monday – Rs. 8.91 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 7.92 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 6.84 crore, Thursday – Rs. 6.93 crore. The film, therefore, netted Rs. 30.60 crore in the weekdays. It joined the Rs. 100-crore club on its fifth day itself. Its total for the 8-day week was Rs. 128 crore! In the second weekend itself, it will cross the Rs. 150-crore mark and thereby become the highest-grossing solo Akshay starrer to-date, breaking the record held by Kesari. Overseas, it grossed an equivalent of Rs. 24.60 crore in the first weekend.

Batla House took a good start on Thursday (15th August) when it netted Rs. 14 crore. Collections dipped to Rs. 7.50 crore on Friday, but picked up on Saturday (Rs. 10 crore) and Sunday (Rs. 12 crore). It, therefore, netted Rs. 43.50 crore in the first 4-day weekend. Collections during the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 4 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 3.90 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 3.50 crore, Thursday – 3.10 crore. Hence, it added Rs. 14.50 crore to its kitty in the weekdays. In this way, its total for the first 8-day week was Rs. 58 crore.

Jabariya Jodi crashed everywhere in the second week.

Fast & Furious: Hobbs And Shaw (dubbed) and the English original of the same name added Rs. 1.50 crore in the third week. Its grand total for 3 weeks was Rs. 69.90 crore.

The Lion King (animation; dubbed) and the English original of the same name collected Rs. 2.20 crore in its fifth week, taking its 5-week total to Rs. 156.12 crore.
