THREE BLOCKBUSTERS IN LUCKY JUNE | 8 August, 2019

There was something about the month of June. For, three films released in that month have proven to be blockbusters. Of these, two films opened on 21st June while another hit the screens on 14th June.

Despite mixed reports, Kabir Singh, which opened on 21st June, turned out to be a huge hit, the highest Hindi grosser this year so far. Punjabi film Shadaa also opened on 21st June and it went on to become the biggest Punjabi blockbuster to-date. In Chhattisgarh, it was and still is Chhattisgarhi film, Hans Jhan Pagli Phas Jabe, which is creating havoc at the turnstiles. That love story was released on 14th June.

While Kabir Singh has netted over Rs. 275 crore in India, Shadaa has collected Rs. 29.5 crore in India (which actually means, Punjab, for all practical purposes) and Hans Jhan Pagli Phas Jabe has so far netted Rs. 7-crore-plus. The last-named film is still running at many centres of Chhattisgarh. The gross total collection of Shadaa Overseas is Rs. 17.65 crore!

What this also means is that going by what Shadaa has done in Punjab circuit, its all-India total (if it was an all-India release) could’ve been Rs. 350-375 crore! Likewise, going by what the Chhattisgarhi film has done in Chhattisgarh, its all-India net total could’ve been around Rs. 200-crore-plus!
