’65’ (DUBBED) REVIEW | 10 March, 2023

Columbia Pictures, Bron Creative, Raimi Productions, Beck/Woods and TSG Entertainment II’s 65 (dubbed from the Hollywood film of the same name; UA) is an adventure film.

While on an exploratory mission, pilot Mills’ (Adam Driver) spaceship crashes. He quickly discovers that he is stranded on Earth 65 million years ago. He has only one chance at rescue. Mills and the only other survivor, Koa (Ariana Greenblatt), have to make their way across a terrain unknown to them and riddled with dangerous pre-historic creatures. To make matters worse, Koa doesn’t understand Mills’ language, and vice versa.

Scott Beck and Bryan Woods have written a story which moves on a single track and that too is not very exciting because one has seen earlier films in which pre-historic creatures attack humans. The duo’s screenplay is unable to sustain the audience’s interest for too long as it gets monotonous after a point of time. Almost all through the drama, there are only two characters — Mills and Koa — on the screen and since they speak different languages, there are hardly any dialogues between them.

Adam Driver is alright as pilot Mills. Ariana Greenblatt is okay in the role of Koa. Chloe Coleman is natural as Nevine. Nika King gets hardly any scope as Alya.

Scott Beck and Bryan Woods do an average job of the direction. Their narration is unable to engage the viewers who, therefore, start getting restless even though the film has a running time of just 95 minutes. Danny Elfman and Chris Bacon’s background music is ordinary. Salvatore Totino’s cinematography is very good. Editing (by Josh Schaeffer and Jane Tones) is quite sharp. Dubbing is alright.

On the whole, 65 is a flop show.
