‘AA BHI JA O PIYA’ REVIEW | 7 October, 2022

Johar Entertainment’s Aa Bhi Ja O Piya is a love story. Kaushal (Dev Sharma) falls in love with Kalpana (Smriti Kashyap) but before she can reciprocate his love, her armyman-father fixes her marriage with Karan (Anurag Mishra). Kalpana now realises that she also loves Kaushal. But will her father agree to get her married to the boy she loves or will he force her to marry the boy selected by him?

S.K. Sachin has written yet another version of the age-old love story with all the mandatory obstacles that come in the way of the love birds. If his story is poor, his screenplay is no better. The drama unfolds without creating any kind of impact on the viewers. The screenplay lacks in comedy and emotions. S.K. Sachin’s dialogues are unbelievably pathetic.

Dev Sharma does an average job as Kaushal. Smriti Kashyap is not heroine material. She looks ordinary, and her acting is poor. Anurag Mishra fails to impress in the role of Karan. Sanjeev Dasgupta and Sima Modi just about pass muster as Kaushal’s parents. Sunil Ghai is dull in the role of Kalpana’s father. Pooja Ghosh lends fair support as Kalpana’s mother. Abhijeet Lahiri (as Kalpana’s grandfather), Mukul Nag (as Balwant), Rakesh Shrivastav (as Chatpat), Sheesh Nayyar (as Kali) and Richa Kalra (as Ghata) provide ordinary support.

Rajesh Harivansha Mishra’s direction is amateurish. Music (Ashutosh Singh) and lyrics are dull. Choreography (by Lollypop and Mitali Pradhan) is below-average. Sanjay P. Khanzode’s camerawork hardly deserves separate mention. Nagar Pathania’s action and stunt scenes are devoid of thrill. Editing is very loose.

On the whole, Aa Bhi Ja O Piya is a flop show all the way.

Released on 7-10-’22 at Metro Inox (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru K Sera Sera Box Office. Publicity & opening: very poor. …….Also released all over.
