Well-known character actor Ghanshyam Nayak, who had been suffering from cancer since some time, breathed his last today (3rd October) in Bombay. He was 76 years old. He had been hospitalised for three days before the end came around 5 p.m. today. Although he had acted in a number of Gujarati and Hindi films, theatre and TV serials, he became the most popular as Natu Kaka, the character he played in TV serial Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
Ghanshyam Prabhakar Nayak started his acting career on Gujarati stage with his father, Prabhakar (Ranglal) Nayak. He played Ranglo in stage-play Bhavai for over 50 years! Lily Patel was his Rangli.
Besides being a fine actor, Ghanshyam Nayak was an extremely good human being, ever-smiling and full of life. Despite undergoing chemotherapy, he used to be busy as an actor and used to tell friends to watch his episodes of TV serials. Just a few days before he passed away, he broke down when he told a friend that he was not feeling well at all.
