Sacred Games actress Rajshri Deshpande, who was alerted by a friend about a homeless 72-year-old man at Bandra in Bombay, succeeded in getting him shifted to an old-age home at Malad. The destitute man turned out to be Munna Hussain who is an FTII production graduate. Originally from Siliguri, he came to Bombay from Pune in 1982 when he was 34, to make a name for himself in Bollywood. He worked as a production assistant for 15 years and finally put his entire life’s earnings in a film which he directed. That film flopped so badly that he had to beg for a living and was forced to sleep on the pavements. Rajshri found him in an apology of a tenement at a construction site near Mehboob Studios at Bandra. He was hard of hearing and was also partially paralysed.
Taking to social media and with assistance from good Samaritans like Gautam Kishanchandani, Yuva Sena activist Rahul Kanal and Sailesh Mishra (of Silver Innings Foundation), Rajshri finally succeeded in having Munna shifted to old-age home Vishramghar at Malad.
