Actress, singer and writer Mallika Rajput was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her house in the Sitakund area of Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh on 13th February. She was 40. The police suspect it to be a case of suicide. Her mother first noticed her body in her room.
Mallika, who is also known as Vijaylakshmi, had worked in Revolver Rani. Besides that film, she had acted in several web series, television serials and music albums. She had also collaborated with singer Shaan in the Yaara Tujhe music album. She wrote more than 600 ghazals and worked with legends like Jagjit Singh and Anup Jalota. Mallika earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for co-writing a 1.25-hour-long song, Teri Aakhir, with Javed Ali in 2013. Ek Ishara, her album with singer Hans Raj Hans, became popular.
Mallika’s career went downhill when she delved into spirituality and got initiated into householder’s sanyas by Kapali Maharaj. She joined the BJP in 2017 but quit a year later. She wrote a book, ‘Shasak’, focussing on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
