Actress Shikha Malhotra, who was seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan and in Kanchli – Life In A Slough, suffered a major paralytic attack on December 10. She had recovered from COVID-19. What makes her illness even more heart-rending is that she had voluntarily offered her services as a nurse as soon as the Prime Minister announced a lockdown in India to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Shikha is a nurse by qualification but an actress by profession. She visited three to four hospitals in Bombay, armed with her nursing degree and was finally accepted as a volunteer at an isolation ward for coronavirus patients, by the medical superintendent who, incidentally, was surprised at Shikha’s enthusiasm when even doctors were fearful of treating COVID-19 patients.
Shikha was hospitalised after she tested positive for COVID in October. She was discharged from hospital on October 22.
