AKSHAY KUMAR ONCE AGAIN OPENS PURSE STRINGS | 29 March, 2020

Akshay Kumar once again opened his heart and his purse strings when he announced yesterday (28th March) on his Twitter account that he had pledged to donate Rs. 25 crore to the Prime Minister’s CARES (Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations) fund. The star has been one of the Bollywood celebrities on the forefront in recent years when it comes to charity.

He had donated Rs. 5 crore for the Pulwama martyrs in 2019. When the state of Assam was ravaged by floods in 2018, he was quick to contribute Rs. 2 crore for the relief of not just the people but also the animals there. He lost no time in donating Rs. 1 crore for the welfare of the people of Madras when there were floods there in 2015. He donated Rs. 1.08 crore to the kin of the 12 CRPF personnel killed in the Sukma (Chhattisgarh) attack in 2017. Akshay also earlier this year donated Rs. 1.5 crore to build a home for transgenders in Madras. He plays a transgender in the forthcoming Laxmmi Bomb. Although Akshay Kumar hates to take credit for it, it is a fact that he initiated the process of insuring the cine workers employed on contract basis in the film industry.
