Veteran lyricist Anwar Sagar breathed his last on 3rd June at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Bombay due to age-related problems. He was 70 years old. Doctors at the hospital said, he was dead by the time he reached the hospital. His son said that his father complained of uneasiness in the morning. He took his dad to various hospitals like Sujay and Criti Care but they all refused to admit him, pleading inability. Just as they reached Ambani Hospital, Anwar Sagar breathed his last. He was pronounced dead around 12 noon yesterday. Anwar Sagar was suffering from heart problems and his end came due to heart attack.
Anwar Sagar had written a number of songs in films made in the 1980s and 1990s. Among his popular songs were Vaada raha sanam from Khiladi and Yeh dua hai mere rab se from Sapne Saajan Ke. The other notable films for which he penned songs were Dil Ka Kya Kasoor, Vijaypath, Main Khiladi Tu Anari and Yaraana. The last film for which he wrote lyrics was Mehul Kumar’s Kitne Door Kitne Paas.
