BACHCHANS GET TWO WEEKS TO MAKE REPRESENTATION | 24 February, 2022

In a relief to Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, who challenged a notice received from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation about taking a part of their Prateeksha bungalow land at Juhu (Bombay) for road widening, the Bombay high court on February 23 allowed them to make an additional representation to the municipal corporation within two weeks. The high court directed that the BMC should then decide on the representation within six weeks, with a personal hearing by the municipal commissioner, if necessary, and no coercive action should be taken for three weeks thereafter if any adverse order is passed by the BMC.

The Bachchans sought orders to quash two notices issued to them by the BMC in April 2017 for their land.
