ABC Creation, Indradhanush Motion Picture, OMG Media Ventures and Nitin Vaidya Productions’ Baii Ga (Marathi; UA) is the story of a man who is told by God why his married life is not happy.
Dhanush (Swapnil Joshi) and Aboli (Prarthana Behere) have been married for five years but they are not happy. When Dhanush asks God, why his married life is not happy, God reveals the reason: in his last five lives, Dhanush had not been the ideal husband and had not fulfilled the wishes of his wives. God also gives Dhanush a chance to make amends by bringing his five wives of the previous lives in front of him so that he can fulfill their wishes. The fun that follows forms the crux of the story.
Pandurang Krushna Jadhav has written a comedy story which is also novel. The screenplay, written jointly by him and Vipul Deshmukh, has its share of funny incidents and anecdotes but the comedy is not consistent. While some scenes are entertaining, there are others which are boring too. Further, the implausibility factor also haunts the viewers, at places. The duo’s dialogues are quite nice.
Swapnil Joshi does a fine job as Dhanush. Prarthana Behere performs ably as Aboli. Sagar Karande lends fine support in the role of Dhanush’s friend, Shyam. Sukanya Kulkarni shines as Putala. Namrata Gaikwad is good. Neha Khan has her moments. Dipti Devi leaves a fair mark. Aditi Sarangdhar makes her presence felt. Others are passable.
Pandurang Krushna Jadhav’s direction is okay. Varun Likhate’s music is alright but the absence of hit songs is felt. Lyrics (Mandar Cholkar, Sameer Samant, Jai Atre and Varun Likhate) are fair. Rahul Thombare’s choreography is quite nice. Background music (by Aditya Bedekar) should’ve been more impactful. Nagraj M.D. Diwakar’s camerawork is average. Nilesh Navnath Gawand’s editing ought to have been sharper.
On the whole, Baii Ga is a very ordinary fare but its box-office prospects are below-average because of lack of promotion.
Released on 12-7-’24 at Plaza (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Panorama Studios. Publicity: poor. Opening: very dull.
