BALAJI TELEFILMS’ EX-COO, FRIEND KILLED IN KENYA | 23 October, 2022

Two Indians who were missing in Kenya, including Zulfiqar Ahmad Khan, former COO of Balaji Telefilms, were killed by a disbanded special service unit, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), a close aide of Kenyan president William Ruto said. Both, Zulfiqar and friend Mohammed Zaid Sami Kidwai, were part of the Kenya Kwanza digital campaign team for the recent elections, and contributed immensely to the success of Ruto’s campaign. They went missing with taxi driver Nicodemus Mwania from Mombasa Road in Nairobi in July.

According to reports, the two were in a cab which was blocked by a DCI unit. The two friends and the cabbie were dragged into another car and then killed in what presidential aide Dennis Itumbi claimed was the ‘killer waiting bay’, a container used to kill Kenyans at a police station in the past. “After three days, the trio was put in a vehicle and sent towards Aberdares, 150 kms. from Nairobi,” Itumbi said.

Just last week, the ministry of external affairs of the Indian government had told the media that the Indian government had been in touch with the Kenyan authorities in the matter.
