BHARAT SHAH KIN CASE: COP SUSPENDED | 28 July, 2020

A police inspector posted at the police control room, has been suspended for allegedly adding the name of a person in an FIR without enough reason. An FIR had been filed against film financier Bharat Shah’s grandson, Yash Shah, for a brawl at a pub in Bombay, and the name of another person was added to the FIR without any valid grounds on 23rd November, 2019 when the officer, Anup Dange, was posted at the Gamdevi police station.

It is alleged that Yash and his friends abused and assaulted constable Santosh Pawar and also tore his uniform, following which Yash and six others were arrested. A separate case was filed against Bharat Shah, his son, and Yash Shah for creating a ruckus at the police station and for assaulting a cop. During an inquiry, police officials found that Anup Dange had asked Santosh Pawar to name someone not involved in the case, in the FIR. Dange was then transferred to the control room. He has now been suspended.
