Zee Studios’ Bhau Bali (Marathi; UA) is the story of a rich man and a poor milkman.
Bhau (Manoj Joshi) lives in a housing society with wife Rama (Medha Manjrekar), daughter Chinu (Priyadarshini Indalkar) and son. Their milkman, Bali (Kishore Kadam), lives in the hutment colony opposite the society in which Bhau lives. He has two sons — Rajesh (Aashay Kulkarni) and Naresh (Tushar Ghadigaonkar). Even as Bhau and Bali become sworn enemies over an unpaid milk bill, Rajesh and Chinu get married to each other without the consent of their respective parents. What happens thereafter?
Jayant Pawar has written a dull story which has neither comedy nor emotions. His screenplay is so weak that absolutely nothing makes an impact. The angle of the unpaid bill is so minor a point that it seems ridiculous for a milkman and his customer to be fighting over it. Pawar’s dialogues are weak.
Manoj Joshi does a very fine job as Bhau. Kishore Kadam is good in the role of Bali. Medha Manjrekar is fair as Bhau’s wife, Rama. Rasika Agashe is okay as Bali’s wife, Dhrupada. Hrishikesh Joshi lends decent support as police inspector Dhankade. Aashay Kulkarni gets limited scope as Rajesh. He is alright. Priyadarshini Indalkar also gets less scope in the role of Chinu. She is so-so. Tushar Ghadigaonkar is adequate as Naresh. Resham Tipnis entertains a bit with her comedy act in the role of Malaika Bhandarkar. Shrikar Pitre, Mansi Kulkarni, Purnima Talwalkar, Abhay Kulkarni and Santosh Pawar provide routine support.
Sameer Patil’s direction is dull. Music (Shailendra Barve and Nihar Shembekar) is weak. Lyrics (G.D. Madgulkar and Vaibhav Joshi) are functional. Vrushali Chavan’s choreography hardly deserves separate mention. Mangesh Dhakade’s background music is unimpactful. Suhas Gujarathi’s camerawork is alright. Kunal Kundu’s art direction is average. Kiran Kshirsagar’s editing ought to have been sharper.
On the whole, Bhau Bali is a flop show all the way. The only plus is its title value as the title reminds of Bahubali!
Released on 16-9-’22 at Jai Hind Mukta A2 (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay by Zee Studios. Publicity & opening: very poor.
